GENERAL TRAVEL INFORMATION ECOTOURISM IN GHANA GHANA IN 3 STEPS

Visiting Ada Foah

Ada Foah is a small town located at the mouth of the Volta River in Eastern Ghana.  Once a very important trade town, it is now a very quiet place where fishing is the primary business.  Ada Foah serves as the district center and plays hosts to the annual Asafotufiami festival in August.  For the tourist, the town offers a break from the busy, and often hectic, cities of Accra and Kumasi.  A tourist can come to Ada Foah and safely relax without on the beach or the river.  Ada Foah is located near the center of the Songor Lagoon, a Ramsar site that is home to many species of birds and other wildlife.  Through the local office of the Ghana Wildlife Division, you can arrange for a tour of the Volta River or for a guided walk to watch nesting sea turtles.  While in Ada Foah, you have your option of hotels that range from budget to upscale.
